Introduction
Our self-catering apartment is on the ground floor of an apartment block situated in Abingdon's Marina area. We have tried to provide as much information as possible in this statement but if you have any further queries please call. We look forward to welcoming you!
Pre-Arrival
We have a website at
www.abingdonapartments.co.uk with information and photos of the apartment.
Bookings/enquiries can be made via email or telephone.
The nearest bus stop is 0.5 miles away from the entrance.
The nearest train station is 8 miles away at Didcot Parkway.
The apartment is approx 55 miles from Heathrow airport.
You will be met on arrival and shown around the apartment and the apartments information pack will be pointed out.
A welcome pack will be provided including tea, coffee, milk, sugar, bread, butter, jam or marmalade, tinfoil, clingfilm, salt and pepper. Toiletries including bath bubbles, shower gel, handwash, toilet rolls and tissues are provided. There is also a pack of cleaning materials.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
There is a resident's only car park in front of the apartment block with an allocated car parking space which is the one situated closest to this apartment.
The apartments are clearly numbered on the outside of the buildings.
The car park is levelled tarmac and flat and even.
The pathway from the allocated car parking space to the shared front door to the apartment block is 12m long and is made of paving slabs which are even and level. The path is 84cm wide at its narrowest point and has grass to the left side.
The last 2.75m of the path rises on a shallow gradient by 23cm up to the shared front door.
The shared front door has a lock 80cm high on the left (the key to which is silver with a hexagonal head) and the door opens inwards with hinges on the right.
The doorway when opened is 76cm wide and has an assisted closer.
There is a 1cm raised threshold with a 5cm step down into a shared hallway.
There is a lightswitch 115cm high directly on the left wall as you enter. The light turns off automatically.
The shared hallway is carpeted, is 84cm wide and the entrance to the apartment is 5.5m down the hallway to the right.
Main Entrance
The main doorway to the apartment is 78 cm wide, is hinged on the right and has two locks, one at 97 cm high the other at 128cm high, again, keys are provided.
The upper lock is a mortice-type and should be undone first (using the large gold key), the lower is a latch-type (using the key colour coded green). Once undone, the door handle presses downwards and the door opens inwards. The door is a fire door so is quite heavy and it has an assisted closer.
There is a 5cm step over the threshold into the apartment's private hallway.
Hallway
There is a lightswitch directly on the wall to the left at 115cm high.
The hallway is carpeted with short pile carpet in a light colour. It is 84cm wide at its narrowest point (between radiator and mirror-shelf)
Directly ahead is the kitchen door. Directly to the right is the door for the lounge. 3.8m down the hallway to the left is the second bedroom, a further 1m down the hallway is the bathroom and the main bedroom is a further 70cm on.
Lounge
Entering the lounge the doorway is 78cm wide, opening inwards, hinged on the right
There is a double dimmer lightswitch 115cm high to the left on the wall.
In addition there are three extra lamps all fitted with in-line switches.
The floor is carpeted in a light coloured short pile carpet matching the hallway.
Against the wall to the right is a dark brown leather two seat sofa with 3.9m ahead to the French window.
Against the wall, under the window into the kitchen, is a four seat dark brown leather sofa. 1.6M in front is a wooden writing desk with a single unpadded wooden chair. The information folder is located on this desk.
In the corner is an enclosed TV cabinet with a TV, a combined DVD/video player/recorder and a freeview box.
The wireless internet router is located in the lounge and login details are listed in the information folder.
Laundry
Bedlinen and Towels
Upon moving in we will agree a mutually convenient time and date to change your towels and bedlinen.
On this date please place the following in the white laundry bag:
- All bathroom towels
- All bathroom mats
- All pillow cases (top ones, not the white protective ones)
- All duvet covers
- All white flat sheets
Please leave unused towels beside the laundry bag.
Upon collection of the above we will remove all the dirty laundry, make the beds up with fresh linen and leave you a clean set of towels each and bath mats.
We respectfully ask that you do not remove the towels from the apartment for any other use.
We also ask that you do not wash the bath towels or bedlinen yourselves under any circumstances.
A washer/dryer is provided in the kitchen for your personal laundry, instructions are in the information folder.

Bedrooms
The first bedroom along the hallway has a 78cm door opening, opening inwards, hinged on the left. It is 2.67m wide.
The lightswitch is directly on the right hand wall, 115cm high.
Two 6ftx3ft beds are fitted against the left and right walls with a 70cm gap between. A small, 60cm tall bedside drawer unit sits between the head boards and has a lamp stood on it, fitted with an in-line switch.
70cm away from the foot of the right hand bed is a wardrobe 90cm wide with a hanging rail 160cm above floor level which has a 137cm hanging height. 8 wooden and 4 wire coat-hangers are provided
Next to the wardrobe is a 106cm high drawer unit with 5 drawers, each 28cm wide.
The main bedroom is situated at the end of the hallway, has a 78cm doorway, hinged on the left and opens inwards.
The lightswitch is located directly on the wall to the right at 115cm height.
A 6ft6" x 5ft double bed is fitted with the headboard against the far wall.
There is a 60 cm gap between the bed and the wall/window to the left and a 142cm gap to the fitted wardrobe to the right.
Either side of the headboard are lamps on stands, fitted with in-line switches.
87cm from the foot of the bed is a multi-drawer unit 135cm wide x 60cm tall.
The fitted wardrobe is 106cm wide with a hanging rail 156cm high and a shelf above 163cm above floor level. 16 wooden coat-hangers are provided.
The central heating and hot water tank is in the adjacent cupboard. The information folder contains directions for use.
There is a single wooden chair next to the drawer unit which can be taken to the kitchen if needed.
In the centre of this bedroom wall between the built in wardrobe and the water tank cupboard is the doorway for the en-suite toilet/shower-room.
Bathroom, en-suite shower-room
The bathroom is located along the hallway next to the twin bedroom. The doorway is 78cm wide, is hinged on the left and opens outwards.
The floor is tiled.
The lightswitch is operated by a pullcord directly on the left and is 130cm above floor level and operates the extractor fan at the same time.
Directly ahead is the toilet with a 42cm seat height.
The bath is fitted against the left hand wall with an 80cm gap to the radiator on the right hand wall.
The bath is 48cm wide internally and has grab handles on both sides.
A shower unit is fitted over the bath.
At the foot of the bath is a basin 80cm tall.
Over the basin is a mirror 28cm square with the bottom edge 145cm above floor height.
An electric shaver socket is fitted to the left of the basin.
The en-suite shower/toilet room is accessed through the main bedroom.
The doorway is 64cm wide, opens in and is hinged on the left.
The lightswitch is located on the bedroom wall to the left of the doorway, 115 cm high.
The floor is tiled and the room is 7ocm wide.
The basin is directly ahead and is 75cm tall.
To the right is the toilet with a 42cm seat height.
Behind the toilet is a large mirror with an electrical shaver socket to the left.
At the opposite end of the room there is a shower cubicle.
Entry to the shower cubical is via a folding door with a 62cm aperture when open and a 12cm step up.
The shower cubical is 73cm x 80cm inside when the door is shut.
Self-Catering Kitchen
The door from the hallway is 78cm wide and opens inwards with hinges on the right.
The kitchen floor is tiled with contrasting colours.
It is evenly lit with extra lighting under the eye-level cupboards.
The 1 1/2 sink unit with draining board is directly ahead, 2.6m from the doorway, and is 15 cm deep.
The kitchen is 3.05m wide and incorporates a small dining area.
To the left is the oven/grill and hob. The oven door drops down to open and the lowers shelf is 30cm from floor level. The grill is 62 cm from floor level.
The washer/dryer is next to the oven.
Worktops and the hob are 90cm high.
Under the sink is a cupboard with bin and cleaning materials and beside that is a full size dishwasher.
There are five eye-level cupboards with the lowest shelf 138cm from floor level.
There are two additional cupboards each with a drawer above, underneath the worktops.
In the dining area is a crockery dresser, a microwave oven and a fridge-freezer.
The freezer is in the lower section (approx 1m tall) and incorporates 4 drawers, the fridge is in the upper section with the highest shelf 170cm from floor level.
There is a 78cm round table with three wooden uncovered chairs with an additional chair situated in the main bedroom if required.
The TV in the lounge is visible through a large arched window in the dining area and the sound from the tv can be fed through the Bose sound system in the kitchen.
Additional Information
An information folder is provided in the lounge covering operation of heating, TV, cooker etc.
There is good mobile phone reception throughout the apartment
We have provided a wireless broadband router with login details provided in the information folder.
